James Lewis Thrush

James Lewis Thrush, 94, of Wabash, Indiana, died 10:00 am, Monday, December 5, 2022, at his home. He was born on September 28, 1928, in Wabash, Indiana, to Charles and Eldora Pearl (MacEndeffer) Thrush.

Jim married Goldie DeLong in Wabash on June 27, 1948; she died May 7, 1991. He was a US Army veteran serving in Korea and was also a Purple Heart Recipient. He drove truck for Kroger Egg in Wabash, retiring after 36 years. Jim was a member of the American Bluegrass Association. He enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles, and was a member of the Cannonball Motorcycle Club. Jim also enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes, archery, fishing, mushroom hunting, camping, racing slot cars, and drag racing at Bunker Hill Speedway.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Thrush and Lori (Terry) McCarty, both of Wabash; five grandchildren, Mike (Mary) Thrush of Russiaville, Indiana, Jim (Stephanie Walter) Thrush of Huntington, Indiana, Angela McCarty, Matthew McCarty, and Steven (Amanda) McCarty, all of Wabash; and 14 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son Michael J. Thrush, one great grandson, six brothers, and six sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Nathan Whybrew officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-7 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.
