James Douglas Hanby

James Douglas Hanby, 50, of Peru passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Marion, Ohio on June 26, 1968.

James attended Peru High School class of 1986. His passion was restoring classic cars and worked as a auto body mechanic for many years. He enjoyed watching Nascar, fishing and just hanging out with friends and family.

James is survived by his father, James C. Hanby, children James Hanby II, Aaron Hanby, Taylor Hanby, Angelica Hanby and Chase Hanby; grandchildren Leila Hanby and Athena Hanby; sisters April (Gina) Hanby and Lori (Wayne) Clark; step brothers Fred (Michelle) Bishop and Scott (Melissa) Bishop and a step sister Karen Featherstone; aunts Nancy Rider and Sue Meadows and a uncle Robert Hanby, many nieces and nephews and a honorary brother Ben “George” Miner. James is also survived by his former wives Ashley Hanby and Jerri Durr.

He was preceded in death by his loving step mother of 32 years Dixie Hanby, a brother Jami Shenfield and his grandparents Irene and Meredith Hanby.

A service celebrating the life of James Douglas Hanby will be held at 3:00PM, Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, Indiana, Burial will be in the Reyburn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, from 1:00 until time of service at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hanby Family.
