Jackie L. “Jack” Miller

Jackie L. “Jack” Miller, 82, of Gas City, passed away in his home at 9:30 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was born in Grant County, Indiana, on Friday, October 17, 1941, to Orval and Mary (Cunningham) Miller. On February 11, 1961 he married Joyce Ann Fights, and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2018.  

Jackie graduated from Jefferson High School in Upland in 1959 and attended Ball State University where he took Architecture Classes.

He worked at Chrysler in Kokomo, retiring in 2006 after 41 years of service. He attended New Hope United Methodist Church. Jack played baseball, basketball and ran cross country and track in high school and lettered in all four. He was a big sports fan and loved watching the LA Dodgers. Jack enjoyed tending to his yard and traveling to visit family and go on vacations. He liked golfing, and played until he couldn’t anymore. Jack will be remembered as a hard working and loyal family man who will be missed dearly.  

Survivors include his son, Rodrick Miller of Freeport, IL; daughters, Tracee (Landon) Underwood of Evansville, IN and Kellee (Lee) Troxtle of Wimauma, FL; granddaughters, Jamie (James) Finch and Ashley Underwood; grandsons, Tyler Underwood and Thomas (Carrie) Troxtle; four great-grandchildren, Kallen, Logan, Tyler, Justin and Christian; sisters, Nancy K. McGuire and Connie S. (Don) Lodge; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval J. and Mary M. Miller; loving wife of 57 years, Joyce Ann Miller; granddaughter, Michelle Nicole Miller; sister, Linda D. McCormick; and brother, Bob D. (Eileen) Miller.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024, as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at 12 noon at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
