ISP Conducting Death Investigation in Blackford County

(Blackford County, IN)-The Indiana State Police in Fort Wayne is conducting an investigation into the death of a Blackford County Jail inmate who died late last night at IU Health in Hartford City.

Preliminary investigation by Detective Chris Toney indicated at approximately 10:40 p.m. last night, 24 year old Victoria R. Seats of Hartford City was found by Jail Officers in a semi-responsive state in her cell having what appeared at the time to be a seizure.

Jail Officers summoned EMS and when Seats became unresponsive, they began performing CPR until medics arrived.  Additional life saving measures were attempted by medics on the way to the hospital, but at approximately 11:30 p.m., Seats was pronounced dead by hospital medical staff.

The Blackford County Coroner Todd Waters requested the investigation shortly thereafter.  No foul play is suspected at this time and results of both an autopsy and toxicology are pending.  This is an ongoing investigation and nothing further will be released at this time.
