Irvin Becraft, 95, of Marion, passed away at 8:08 am on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in his home. He was born in Grassy Lick, Kentucky, on Monday, March 28, 1927, to Shirley and Lina (Witt) Becraft. On July 25, 1953, he married Iantha “Annie” Jewell Shrout, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2022.
Irvin worked at GenCorp for over 40 years and was a member of South Marion Friends Church. He enjoyed going to flea markets and had operated several booths throughout the area. Irvin loved traveling with his family, especially to Hawaii. He also loved drawing and tinkering in his garage, particularly working on mopeds.
Survivors include his brother-in-law, Luther (Irene) Shrout; sister-in-law, Loretta (late Paul) Witt; nephews, Kris (Tammy) Witt of Marion, Kevin (Angie) Witt of Converse, Claude (Naomi) Hatton of KY, Randy (Cathy) Becraft of Gas City, and Danny (Linda) Becraft of FL; and nieces, Kim (Richard) Monroe of Marion, Judy (Bernie) Deaveris of Fairmount, and Donna Jean Hammack of KY.
In addition to the recent passing of his wife, Irvin was preceded in death by his father, Shirley Becraft; mother, Lina (Witt) Plick; brothers, Thomas Becraft, Charles Becraft, and Shirley Becraft, Jr.; and sister, Elsie Byrd.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Irvin’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
