Iris, 82, was born in Marion on September 3, 1929 to the late Paul M. and Thelma (Newlin) Royal. She passed away in St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis on July 25, 2018.
Iris attended Fairmount High School. She worked for Wesleyan Publishing Company and later worked for and eventually retired from Marion General Hospital. She enjoyed singing and attending Hillside Wesleyan Church. In her early years she enjoyed traveling with her husband and taking bus trips to watch the Chicago Cubs. Iris loved spending time with all of her family.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Donald (Sue) Royal, Muncie; Kay (David) Sorg, Tennessee; Carol Royal, Anderson; Marc Royal, Gas City; Deanna (Mike) Gamroth; Lesha Pastrick, Columbus, Indiana; Jo Beth (Stephen) Kelley; sisters-in-law, Fannie Royal, Gas City; Marilyn Royal, Gas City.
Iris is preceded in death by her husband, Noell Elliott; brothers, Robert R. Royal; Russell D. Royal; Ronald M. Royal; sister-in-law, Mary E. Royal; nieces Linda Renea’ Davis; Christina S. Thorpe.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2019 from 12pm-2 pm in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm with Chaplain Ron Forsythe officiating.
