Glendora Prange

Glendora Prange, 94, Marion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Colonial Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Marion.  She was born in Lynn, IN, on March 18, 1924, to Collie and Gladys Snyder.  She moved to Marion as an infant and spent the rest of her life here.  In 1946, she married Gerald Williams, and he preceded her in death in 1966.  She then married Harry Prange in 1981, and he also preceded her in death in 1998.

Glendora had many difficulties and struggles in her life, but from these she emerged as a strong-willed, independent woman.  She loved working retail and valued the many friendships she developed during her many years at Miller’s, Grant’s, and Hill’s department stores.  She also loved the many fun times she shared with Harry and the Mizmur Shrine Club clowns.  Getting her hair and nails done (Thanks, Nannette and Helen!) was a weekly ritual and continued up to the time of her death.  She was a “stylish lady”.

Mom took great pride in her family and always enjoyed hosting family dinners and holiday events.  Her chicken and noodles tradition continues on in our family.  She also loved attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events (especially baseball) and was always showing off pictures of her great-grandchildren to the staff and resident at Colonial Oaks.

In retirement, she moved to Cambridge Square, where she developed more good friendships and served as President of the Resident Council for many years.  In 2014, she moved to Colonial Oaks, where she was affectionately known as the “Candy Lady”.  Many thanks to all the staff at Colonial Oaks for their wonderful and compassionate care.  She considered many of them part of her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael (Amber) Brown; daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Thompson and Lori (Chris) Shell; grandchildren, Megan (Jake) Stroup, Ryan (Amber) Shell, Jeff Brown, Aaron Todd Brown, Leza Brown, Dionne’a Radulovic, Brenda Stafford, Jerry Williams, and Krista Wine; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Rose Tutt.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Glendora was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou, and her son, Jerry Gene Williams.

Our family was blessed to have her in our lives for 94 years.  Mom—you will be missed.  Love Always!

Family and friends may call from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
