Gladys B. Jackson

Gladys B. Jackson, 92, Marion, was surrounded by her loving family when she received her eternal reward at 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Marion General Hospital.  She was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, on March 18, 1926, to the late Marion and Jenny (Hornback) McKee.  She married Maxie Jackson, and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Gladys retired from Thompson B&K after 25 years, where she was in food preparation.  She previously worked at Long’s Cleaners.  Gladys enjoyed gardening, especially flowers.  She was a giving person who liked helping others when they were in need.  She frequented the Honeywell Center, as well as Concerts in the Park.  Gladys was led to the Lord by Ben Gray, and she was a good and faithful servant who will be missed by many.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty J. (late John) Thompson, Marion; grandson, Rodney A. (Anna Marie) Thompson, Marion; great-granddaughter, Kristee Dyson, Wabash; sisters, Lorena (late Junior) Woodard and Dorothy (late Gilbert) Finch; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and special friend, Janet Dyson.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Doebuck, Sammy, Lester, Otha, and Dugie, as well as sisters, Will Alice, Anna Lizzie, Aola, and Ivelie.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.  Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
