Gerald D. Laurence, 81, of Hartford City, IN, formerly of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 6:40 PM on Tuesday, May 08, 2018 at IU Health Blackford Hospital in Hartford City, IN. He was born on Monday, May 11, 1936, in Blackford County, IN. He married Barbara G. Russell on Sunday, October 16, 1955 in Montpelier, IN. Gerald was a graduate of the Montpelier High School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. He had worked many places including Sheller Globe, Montpelier, IN, Concrete Inc., Marion, IN, Franklin Electric, Bluffton, IN, Montpelier Lumber Co., and retired in 1998 after 20 years of service from the Blackford Co. Highway Dept. Gerald was in the Hartford City Unit of the Indiana National Guards, was a member of the Montpelier Masonic Lodge # 600 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley, Ft. Wayne, IN, and was formerly a member of the Montpelier Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his Father – Sherles Lawrence, Mother – Gladys Lucille (Foy) Lawrence, Wife – Barbara G. (Russell) Laurence, Father & Mother In Law – Clarence & Modjeska (Hedges) Russell, Brother – Robert Laurence, and Sister – June Laurence.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM Friday, May 11, 2018.
A service to celebrate Gerald’s life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 with Pastor Tom Rittichier officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
