George Edward Masters Jr.

George Edward Masters Jr., 71, of Peru passed away at 10:15pm on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in Greensburg, Indiana on April 27, 1947 to George Sr. and June (Hendrickson) Masters.  He married Jovona Boyer on May 24, 1969, and she survives.

George graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1966.  A United States Army veteran, he served in Vietnam, and retired as a supervisor from Square D Company after 35 years, and also from Mier Plastics in Kokomo after 5 years.  A loving husband of 49 years, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world.  There wasn’t a game or school event that he wasn’t sitting on the bleachers cheering them on.  He loved each and every one of them dearly.

He is survived by his wife and their children Phillip Masters (wife Rebecca) of Michigan, Eric Masters (wife Stacy) of Deedsville, Clinton Masters (wife Carol) of Peru, and Mary Whitaker (husband Kevin) of Peru.  Also, grandchildren CJ Masters, Kassandra Gower, Brittany Masters, Morgan Townsend, Jeremy Young, Patrick Masters, Alex Masters, Victoria Masters, Eva Masters, and Abigail Masters; and great-grandchildren Caitlyn and Gavin, Anastasia, Danielle, Adrianna, Jackson, Maci, and Ryker.  Also surviving are brothers and sisters Dave and Nancie Masters, Larry and Debby Webb, Sue Huddleston, Ina Re Masters, and brother-in-law John and Brenda Boyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents George Sr. and June Masters, his in-laws James and Coterina Boyer, and a grandson Jacob Lee Young.

Visitation will be held from 2pm – 7pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 58 West Fifth Street, Peru, Indiana, with Father Adam Mauman officiating.  Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, with military service provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.

Memorials may be made to the Miami County Military Rites Team.
