Freddie Mack Tunstall

Freddie Mack Tunstall, 78, Marion, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in his home. He was born in Byhalia, Mississippi, on January 11, 1944, to Sterling and Christine (Newsom) Tunstall. 

Mack was a Tool and Die Maker Journeyman at General Motors for 44 years in Marion. He attended Greater Second Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and Vice President of the usher board. 

Mack was a sports fanatic and could enjoy any sport with a ball. In particular, he was a huge football fan and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers dominate the NFL while wearing his black and gold. He also enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and traveling. 

Mack was an amazing man who loved to spend time with his family. He always helped others and would give the shirt from his back if needed. He was generous, loving, and kind. He accepted people with open arms and always looked for the best in them. He was a loving husband, caring father, and devoted friend. 

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Tunstall; children, Christine Jones, David Flatt, Kimberly Flatt, Kwaunia (Terrence) Bright, Karicko Tunstall, and Chelsey (Steven) Grant; step-daughters, Essence (Phillip) Melton, Kiva Smith, and Kenya Hudson; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; siblings, Gwendolyn Bynum, Epsie Collins, Earnestine Cleaves, Mary Gray, Alberta Washington, Curtis Tunstall, Namon Tunstall, and Richard Tunstall; and a host of extended family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Mary Catherine Jones, Rosie Lee Hall, Dewey Tunstall, Newsom Tunstall, Jessie Mae Tunstall, Sterling Tunstall, Jr., and Innie Lee Tennial. 
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 705 W. 26th St., Marion, IN. 

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Mack’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Benny Powell, Sr., officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
