Frank Allen Payne passed away on June 30, 2023. He was born to Hobart and Ruby (Walters) Payne in Sullivan County, Indiana, on April 29, 1935. His wife of 59 years, Bobbie, survives.
Frank retired in 1993 from Thomson Consumer Electronics (RCA) where he was a mechanical design engineer. He was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed restoring cars and building dragsters with his friend, Malcom Terry.
Dad never missed a game or event of ours. This carried on to his grandchildren, Aubrey and Zach, and even to his great-grandsons, Decker and Dax.
He will be missed by his children, Patricia Payne of Marion, and Robert Payne of Indianapolis. His grandchildren Aubrey Elizabeth Kay (Dustin McGuinn) of Marion and Zachary Allen Payne of Indianapolis and great-grandchildren Decker Alan McGuinn, Dax Arthur McGuinn, and Drew Abigail McGuinn. Sisters Gladys Burns of Marion, Becky Lynch of Upland, Carolyn (Dave) Haynes of Elkhart, Marlene (George) Mueller of Greenwood, and several cherished nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister Martha Meyer.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Frank’s life will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Steve Johnson officiating.
