Everado “Eddie” Aguilar

Everardo “Eddie” Aguilar, 86, Sweetser, passed away in his home on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.  He was born in Laredo, TX, to Manuel and Sixta (Villarreal) Aguilar on January 2, 1932.  He married Darlene Carl-Hensley on January 25, 1975, and she survives.

Eddie was a U.S. Army veteran and was always a proud veteran supporter throughout his life.  After he moved to Indiana, he worked at General Tire and United Tech.  While working in the factory, he would mow yards on the side, and he had even built his sister’s house in Sweetser.  He attended First United Methodist Church in Marion and always enjoyed taking candy to hand out to the children.

He was an honest man, one of good character, a dedicated, proud, and loving father who always put his family before himself.  Eddie will also be known for his great humor and how much he loved to laugh.  He was fun to be around and usually had a good joke ready to tell.  He was an avid Colts fan and enjoyed woodworking, as well as working with leather and metal.  Texas was always in his heart, even after moving to Indiana, and he treasured the times when he could travel back to his home state for vacations with family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Darlene, Sweetser; children, Beth (Eric) Gunyon, Greenfield, Carla (David Farrell) Aguilar, Denver, CO, Manuel Aguilar, Irvington, Everardo Aguilar Jr., San Antonio, TX, and Maria Herrera, Houston, TX; sister, Cutberta Herrera, Sweetser; and several grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Balbino Aguilar, Jose Aguilar, Aristeo Aguilar, Cutberto Aguilar, Juan Aguilar, and Encarnaison Aguilar; sisters, Simona Pruneda, Paula Nalero, Nicolasa Perez, and Trinidad Perez; and son-in-law, Ricardo Herrera.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A funeral service to celebrate Eddie’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 624 S. Adams St., Marion, IN.  Pastor Jason Stanley will be officiating with burial following at Marion National Cemetery.
