Ernestine “Tina” Meek, 86, of Franklin, Tennessee, went home to be with her Savior, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Symphony Assisted Living in Franklin, Tennessee. She was born on December 9, 1936, in Water Gap, Kentucky, to Ernest and America (Whitt) Prater.
Tina was a 1957 graduate of Prestonsburg High School in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. She married Hillard “Mike” Meek in Springfield, Tennessee on March 20, 1987; he died October 16, 2005. Tina worked at Cyclone Manufacturing in Urbana, Indiana 33 years, retiring in 1999. She was an active member of the Wabash Free Will Baptist Church and a volunteer at Helping Hand of Wabash County. Tina was resident of Urbana for 53 years.
Tina was loved for her sassy, no nonsense personality, kindness, and quick wit. She enjoyed reading, spending time with friends, and attending church activities. She had a passion for reading and sharing books with others. She was proud of her country, her faith, being a coal miner’s daughter, but her biggest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Ricky L. Sesco of Converse, Texas, and Lisa K. (Randy) Rife of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Taylor Rife and Jackson Rife, both of Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; step mother Mary Prater; three brothers, Eugene Prater, Rabin Prater, and Raymond Prater; and two sisters, Fran Eckman and Wanda Culp.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, October 23, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-5 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is American Heart Association.
