Elsie Mae Strickler, 90, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 4:25 am, Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on October 5, 1933, in Wabash, to Walter Henry and Edith Lucille (Aukschun) Horner.
Elsie was a 1952 graduate of Wabash High School. She married Richard Strickler in Wabash on January 25, 1952; he died June 8, 1991. Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, oil painting, and puzzle books.
She is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn “Jody” (Charles) Burkholder of Wabash; 8 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren; and her sister Mary Jane (Ed) Carpenter of Wabash. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Richard Allen Strickler, Donald Keith Strickler, and Jeffrey Scott Strickler, granddaughter Breyonia Paige Strickler, brother, Nevin Horner; and three sisters, Evelyn Lester, Colleen Weesner, and Betty Boyer.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 18, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 1-2 pm Monday, at the funeral home.
