Elizabeth P. Royse, 89, Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on August 18, 1931, to Lee and Josie (Hunt) Vice. On December 29, 1956, she married James Royse.
Elizabeth loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed golf cart rides. Everyone loved Elizabeth as she was known as “Mamaw” to many. She thought the world of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active mother figure to her great-grandson, Trenton. She was a very strong woman who fought many challenges in life until the very end.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Kevin) Carey of Jonesboro; son, James Royse of Gas City; step-son, Terry (Donna) Royse of KY; grandsons, Michael Horn, Jeremy Horn, Jason Royse, Josh Schuhmacher; granddaughter, Mary Mongold; step-granddaughters, Tera Carpenter, Casey Weaver; step-grandson, Darren Royse; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as special friends, Jackie Wolf and Donna Burdette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Josie Vice; husband, James Royse; son, Donald Royse; step-great-grandson, Christopher Mohan; as well as 2 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
A funeral to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the funeral home. Pastor Jeff Brady will be officiating with burial following at Park Cemetery.
