Earl F. McMahan

Earl F. McMahan, 85, Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2018.  He was born in Muncie on November 23, 1932, to the late Earl and Georgiana (Miller) McMahan.  On February 9, 1951, Earl married Arlene McLain, and she survives.

After Earl’s graduation from Marion High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from 1952-1954.  He served an additional 14 years in the Indiana Guard Reserve and had achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel.  Following his military career, he worked at General Motors and retired after 28 years of service.

Earl was a member of College Wesleyan Church, where he served in various capacities.  He was also a member of Fisher Body Sympathy Club.  During his lifetime, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and riding his motorcycle.  Their three trips to Germany were especially memorable.  Earl also had hobbies of woodworking and clock making.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 67 years, Arlene; children, Edwin Lee (Christi) McMahan, Houston, Texas, and Janis (Barry) Welch, Gas City; grandchildren, Jamie (Jason) Miller, Nashville, Tennessee, Mallary (Willie) Rangel, Marion, Patrick (Eva) Welch, Hartford City, Devan McMahan, Boca Raton, Florida, and Peter Sutherland, Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Preston Rangel, Brooklynn Rangel, Jazlynn Rangel, Zayden Beedy, Shaun Robinson, and Izaiah Durieux; and sister, Patricia Ann Monticone.

Also preceding him in death was a grandson, Dustin McMahan.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at College Wesleyan Church, 200 E. 38th St., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Earl’s life will be held at the church at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018.  A committal service will take place at Marion National Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
