Dortha Marie Bowland, 91, of Peru passed away at 11:45am on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on November 1, 1926 in Miami County to Howard and Ersie (Miller) Klise. On April 30, 1944, Dortha married Myron Bowland at the Santa Fe United Methodist Church. Myron and Dortha retired from farming and also from two start grow pullet houses. Dortha was also a homemaker, and was a member of the Peru Grace Brethren Church.
She is survived by her husband, Myron, and their two children: Pastor Ron Bowland (wife Ruthie) of Peru, and Patty Hartley (husband Dave) of Peru. Dortha was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister Vera Engel.
Visitation will be held from 10am – 12pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Peru Grace Brethren Church, 430 South Broadway, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 12pm, with Pastor Dave Jodry officiating. Burial will take place at Parklawn Cemetery in Amboy, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the Peru Grace Brethren Church.
