Dorothy M. Phillipy, 101, of Greenfield, formerly of Peru, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Greenfield.
Born March 8, 1922, to George M. and Agnes L. (Shauman) Phillipy, she lived most of her life in Peru and Miami County. She attended Ridgeview School. Dorothy is perhaps best remembered as a long time waitress at the late-great Square Deal Café. Later she was employed at the Copper Kettle and Peru Community Schools.
Survivors include her three children; Ernest Samuel and wife, Pam; Carol Jean Curtis and husband, Larry, all of Greenfield; James Richard of Indianapolis; grandchildren, John Curtis, Chris Curtis, Gerri Ann Hoffman, Mike Phillipy, Chad Phillipy; great grandchildren, Mitchell Heller, Justin Curtis, Katie Williams, Owen Phillipy, Charlotte Phillipy, great-great grandchild, Audrey Williams, and two brothers; Leonard and Mack Phillipy. She is also survived along with many adoring nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by brothers; Nelson, Bob, Joe, and Donald “Red” Phillipy; sisters, Lucille Bolinger, Betty Ege, and Mary Jane Gearhart, and grandson, Patrick Curtis.
Friends may call from 1pm to 2pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. The funeral service will follow at 2pm. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
