Dorothy Darlene Garmon

Dorothy Darlene Garmon, 71, Marion, received her eternal reward on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Auburn Village Health and Rehab.  She was born in Terre Haute on July 19, 1947, to the late Robert A. and Viola B. (Davis) Johnson, and lived most of her life in Grant County.

Dorothy worked as an inspector for 23 years at Anaconda and 2 years at Foster-Forbes in Marion.  She loved children and, after retirement, volunteered at Allen Elementary School and tutored reading at Tucker Vocational School.  She was also actively involved with the children’s department at Healing Heart Church of God, where she was a member.  Dorothy always enjoyed going to the library to work on various craft projects.  More than anything, though, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  Halloween was her favorite holiday.

She is survived by her children, Lori (Courtney McKee) Landis, Marion, Lisa (Alvin, Jr.) Adams, Converse, Rick Landis, Marion, Kim (John) Rife-Crewdson, CO, and Steven Garmon, Marion; sister, Milly Chambers, Marion; brother, Fred Johnson, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Arthur (Laura Kemble) Geiger, Matthews, Ridge (Stephanie) McKee, Marion, and Cheyenne Garmon, Marion; great-grandchildren, Aubree Geiger and Leilani Garmon; special great-nephew, Kurt Chambers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her best friend, Pam Bovie; two nephews, Brad Johnson and Kenneth Chambers; and son-in-law, David Geiger.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Dorothy’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.  Pastor Emery Bailey will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
