Doris M. Durben

Doris M. Durben, 90, Marion, passed away at 6:15 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, on Monday, July 6, 1931, to Curtis and Blanche (Pope) Bales. She married John E. Durben, and he preceded her in death.

Doris graduated from Lily High School in Kentucky and was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, especially spending the winters in Florida with her husband, and she attended church in Port Richey when she was there. Doris also attended New Hope Baptist Church in Gas City. She liked going to Wildwood Acres Campground in Hartford City. She also enjoyed line-dancing and playing guitar.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Bell of Marion; granddaughters, Shellie (Brian) Jennings of Mesa, AZ, Amy (Jon) Findley of Fulton, MO, and Stephanie (Adam) Fields of Marion; grandson, Matthew (Amy) Durben of Marion; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Fred R. (Gina) Durben; brother, Harold Bales; sisters, Wilma Lahorner, Lois Asher, Lucy Alma Miller, and Billie Jean Cox; and son-in-law, Ronald L. Bell.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Doris’ life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Noah Farmer officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
