Donnie F. May

Donnie F. May

Donnie F. May, 75, Greentown, passed away at 4:16 am on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born in Eloise, Florida, on Saturday, December 8, 1945, to John T. May and Myrle (Wynn) Smith. On August 6, 1966, Donnie married Marsha Kay Polk, and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2021, just hours prior to his passing.

Donnie graduated from Winter Haven High School (FL) and attended St. Leo College, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. He was a 24.5-year veteran of the Air Force and achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He still wore that rank even in retirement and was called Air Force One. Following his military service, Donnie worked at General Motors in Marion.

Donnie was a member of Greater Life Church. He loved his wife, kids, church, and country. Donnie was kind and very pure. He was also an absolute jokester. If there was a prank, he was behind it. When playing games with the kids, he cheated every time! (The game was really to catch him cheating.) If you played a joke on him (which he loved), this was going to be his response: “You may not know when and where, but you will know who and why.”

Survivors include his mother, Myrle Smith; son, Bien T. (Dee) May of Navarre, FL; daughter, Doni D. May of FL; grandchildren, Phillip, Cassie (David), Callie, Cadie, Joshua (Emilee), and Zachary (Olivia); seven great-grandchildren; brother, Darryl Smith; and sister, Cheryl (Keith) Thompson of Fort Walton Beach, FL.

He was also preceded in death by his father, John T. May; dad (step-father), James Smith; and great-grandson, Jacob Stotts.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a combined service to celebrate the lives of both Donnie and Kay will begin at 1:00 pm. Pastor Eric Hall will be officiating with burial taking place at Grant Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe St., Ste. 200, Chicago, IL 60606 and Greater Life Church, 950 E. 00 N. S., Greentown, IN 46936.
