Donald M. Stodghill

Donald M. Stodghill, 91, Marion, passed away at 12:50 pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine where he was tenderly cared for by the staff. He was born in Vincennes, Indiana, on Saturday, May 17, 1930, to Cecil and Laura (Ricketts) Stodghill.  On November 16, 1957 he married Shirley A. Dillon, and she survives.  

Donald graduated from Vincennes High School. He owned and operated E & K Steel Erectors. He was a past director of Grant County Rehab and charter member of the Mississinewa Boat and Ski Club. He was instrumental in getting the Marion Riverwalk developed. He was a member of Meshingomesia Country Club, the Elks, Moose, Eagles, American Legion, VFW, and also the Mississinewa Valley Corvette Club. He was very active in volunteering with the Matter Park Gardens. He ran the Boston Marathon while he was in the Marines, a fact of which he was rightfully proud.  He enjoyed flowers, antiques and dearly loved his friends.  

Survivors include his wife, Shirley A Stodghill of Marion; daughter, Lei (Gregory) Gartland of Syracuse; many special nieces and nephews; and his special litttle Yorkie named, Gracie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Laura Stodghill; brother, Vance Stodghill; and sister, Norma Stodghill.

A private family graveside service will be held with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating at Gardens of Memory – Marion.
