Donald J. Hull

Donald J. Hull, 70, of Peru, passed away at 8:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his residence after a courageous short battle with cancer. He was born in Peru, the son of Donald G. and Agnes Mae Cassel Hull, who preceded him in death. Don was a 1965 graduate of Peru High School and a retired from Norfolk & Southern as a brakeman where he was known as “Laughing Boy”. Don was always smiling and friendly to everyone. In his younger years, Don was in the Peru Circus and performed the Roman Rings. He also was a paperboy and continued to become an amazing photographer and made state editor for the Peru Tribune before working for the railroad. Don was very innovative. He had a passion for science, electronics, gadgets and quantum mechanics. He was a master creator and could fix and figure out of anything. He loved to read, watch Star Trek, Sci-Fi and Nova and was extremely interested in future technology, health and longevity. He loved family gatherings and feasting on an old traditional family recipe of Ravioli and meatballs. He was an amazing, loving father and will be dearly missed. He is survived by daughters Andrea Harness and husband Rob of Osceola, IN and Evey Paul and her husband Steve of Mexico, IN; a grandson Blake Hull – Cochran and his wife Billie; a granddaughter Katelynn Paul; two great-grandchildren Bentley and Braelyn; sisters Diane Hartleroad and her husband Gregory of Peru and Christy Dunning and her husband Alan of Hernando, MS; a brother William Hull and his wife Teresa of Ligonier, IN; a lifetime friend, his former wife and the mother of his children, Pam Hull of Peru and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Gathering celebrating the life of Donald J. Hull will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Riley Children’s Foundation.
