Donald Frank Thien, 74, Marion, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020. He was born in Breeze, Illinois, on Saturday, July 20, 1946, to Vincent Thien and Marie (Woltering) (Thien) Moss. On March 19, 2000, he married Naomi K. Ford.
Donald drove semi for several years then retired as a mechanic from Thompson’s Trucking. He loved woodworking and tools, riding his bicycle and hunting. Most of all, he enjoyed having his family together.
Survivors include his children, Kevin Thien of Marion, Donald VFJ (Lori) Thien of Marion, Alecia A. Thien of Marion, Rhonda S. (LaVern) Haynes of Marion, Dawnita M. (Pat McPherson) Artis of Marion, April Huff of Pinson, TN, Lydia Rowles of Dunkirk, Linda M. Nelson of Gas City; brother, Ronald (Joyce) Thien; sisters, Mary Brass of Fairmount, Debbie Manley of Fairmount, Judy (Ron) Marley of Marion, Patti (Phil) Orndorff of Kokomo, Lori (Michael) Jarvis of Van Buren, Janice Sutton of Fairmount; grandchildren, Michael (Brandy) Thien, Ashley (Ronnie) Havens, Amber (Justin) Dickerson of Marion, Tiffany (Aaron) Buck, Courtney (Kody Graves) Haynes, Caleb Haynes, Brian Thien, Zachary Thien, Michael Rowles, Kylor Thien, Lila Nelson, William Nelson, Kendyl Huff, Nathaniel Huff; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Thien; mother, Marie (Thien) Moss; wife, Naomi K. Thien; stepfather, John Moss; and brothers, Jeff Moss and Robert Thien.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Donald’s life will begin at 12:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Forrestville Cemetery, Elwood, IN.
