Dennis Lynn Fuerst

Dennis Lynn Fuerst, 64 of Jerauld County, South Dakota passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at the heart and vascular hospital in Indianapolis Indiana.

He was born in Wessington Springs, South Dakota on December 16, 1959 to Balzer II Fuerst and Viola “Frier” Fuerst.

Dennis was a 1979 graduate from Wessington Springs High School.  Shortly after high school, Dennis joined the Navy and served our country for eight consecutive years aboard the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean.  Ending his deployment with honorable discharge in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

His most memorable moments as a child, would be helping his parents on the farm. Dennis loved riding on the tractors.

Dennis eventually relocated to Indiana to be closer to his twin daughters and grandchildren. He worked in manufacturing for many years before retiring, and after retirement, Dennis enjoyed watching NASCAR every Sunday and family cookout at the reservoir while watching his family swim.  He attended Calvary church for a short period of time before his passing. Dennis had a soft spot for his children and grandchildren, as well as complete strangers. He couldn’t tell a single person no and would take the shirt off his back to help in person in need.  He will be greatly missed by so many people.

He is survived by his sister Deb High, daughters, Kayla Sanchez, Kendra McElroy with Spouse Nicholas McPherson, seven grandchildren, Isaac Davidson, Zoe Vessels, Evie McElroy, Aubree Boehning, Anastacia Mennuto, Leelynn Belford, and Myklen Walton, with one great grandchild on the way, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dennis is proceeded in death by his parents, Balzer II Fuerst and Viola “Frier” Fuerst.

Celebration of life will be held at Calvary Church, 2908 W. 200 N. Peru In, 46970, on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 2 PM to 4 PM, officiated by Pastor Kevin Palmer.  Burial will be taken place at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
