Dennis Gene Sites, 74, North Manchester, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after battling health issues following an accident in 2019. Born in Wabash on February 16, 1949, Dennis was the son of the late Verlon and Miriam (Keyes) Sites.
After graduating from North Miami High School in 1967, Dennis went to work at GC Murphy Store. He met the love of his life, Theresa Fortney, during his time there, and the two wed on March 10, 1973. After their wedding, Dennis graduated from Bowling Green Nursing School and became a licensed practical nurse, working in various retirement homes for the next thirty years. His caring and sincere personality not only made Dennis great at his job but also made him an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and person. After retiring from his LPN career, Dennis worked for North Manchester Parks and Recreation Department as a janitor, keeping facilities in top shape for townspeople to use.
Dennis loved music. He led in song at Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, where he was a member and deacon. He had a servant’s heart, volunteering with his wife for Wabash County Cancer Society for over forty years and volunteering with Boy Scouts of America for many years. Dennis also enjoyed spending time reading and writing poetry and drawing. An extrovert by nature, Dennis never met a stranger or forgot a name.
The loving memory of Dennis Sites will be forever cherished by his wife of over fifty years, Theresa Sites, North Manchester; daughter, Rhonda (Craig) Smart, Battle Creek, Michigan; son, Jeremy (Kandi) Sites, Rochester; sister, Lorraine (Kenn) Hudson, Roann; sister-in-law, Diane Sites, Roann; and three grandchildren, Kambis Sites, Wyatt Smart, and Conner Smart. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Sites.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with calling beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, 103 North 3rd Street, Liberty Mills, Indiana 46946, with Pastor Kelly Beutler and Pastor Erin Huiras officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
