Local Law Enforcement seeking teams to participate in kickball fundraising event

PERU, IN- The Peru Police Department, Miami County FOP, and Indiana State Police are actively seeking teams to participate in the Let’s Kick It For Riley kickball fundraising tournament being held on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. If you would like to put a team together, be a corporate sponsor, or make a monetary donation, please contact Lee Mitchell at dmitchell@perupd.org or TJ Zeiser at tzeiser@isp.in.gov. The deadline for corporate sponsorship is September 29th at 5pm.

Riley (age 8) is the daughter of Peru Police Department Lt. Colten Pitner. Last year, Riley was diagnosed with CLN3 Batten Disease. This is a terminal disease that attacks the nervous system and there is no cure at this time. Medications that have been found to slow the progression of the disease cost approximately $18,000 a month as they are not covered by insurance.  On October 14th, they will be conducting a kickball tournament at the baseball fields in Bunker Hill, Indiana. Should inclement weather arrive on the day of the event, they will move indoors to Maconaquah High School. Teams will consist of 10-12 players and the cost for entry will be $200 per team. While they highly encourage early registration, they will accept day of registrations at $250 per team.

Please consider being a part of this event and keep the Pitner family in your prayers moving forward. #fightforriley
