Delbert Austin Frazier

Delbert Austin Frazier, 82, Marion, passed away at 11:13 am on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, June 6, 1941, to Dale and Gertrude Mae (Bridegroom) Frazier.

Delbert graduated from Marion High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Air Force that same year.  He did basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, before going to Pope Field in North Carolina as a crash rescue firefighter.  From there, he went to Thule AFB in Greenland in the spring of 1962, where he was an inspector of many missile and radar sites, as well as a crash rescue firefighter.  Following his military service, he was a die maker at General Motors Corporation in Marion, Indiana, for 39.3 years.  He retired on November 1, 2003.

Delbert enjoyed camping, gardening, and working on his many projects around the house and yard. He spent 17 enjoyable years wintering down in Weslaco, Texas, at the Southern Comfort RV Resort.

On October 28, 1961, Delbert married Sandra Kay Tubbs.  They were married for 62 years and had three daughters: Tamara Kay (Andrew) Miller on September 23, 1963, Theresa Lynn (Tony) Bower on July 11, 1967, and Deborah Anne Reinhardt on November 13, 1970.  Together, they have eight grandchildren: Anthony Austin (Alyssa) Alaimo, Andrew James (Flo) Alaimo, Evan Michael (Anna) Lowe, Samantha Ashley (Korey) Tetzlaff, Meghan Marie (Alex) Thomas, Jarred Morgan Whitton, Courtney Paige Whitton, and Clay Michael Whitton; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Frazier; a sister, Phyllis Thomas; and his daughter, Theresa Lynn Bower.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Grace Community Church, 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Delbert’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory followed by a dinner back at the church.
