Crystal June Carr

Crystal June Carr, 88, of Jonesboro, passed away at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living in Marion. She was born in Marion on Friday, June 29, 1934, to Graydon and Elizabeth “Betty” (Olah) Foxx. On August 12, 1950, she married her husband of 72 years, Delmar “Doc” Carr, and he survives. 

Crystal was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Marion and had graduated from Marion High School. She had worked at RCA, Fleet Supply and at WalMart where she gave product samples to customers. Crystal enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. She and her husband owned and operated Cakes N’ Things in Gas City for 11 years and she was a member of I.C.E.S. (International Cake Exploration Societé). Prior to the cake shop, Crystal and Doc owned and operated Twin City Meat Locker for 13 years. Crystal liked gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting, bowling, playing Scrabble and watching Wheel of Fortune. 

In addition to her loving husband, Doc, survivors include her sons, Thomas A. (Luanne) Carr of Anderson and Michael D. (Peg) Carr of WV; daughter, Linda (David) Young of Fairmount; grandsons, Allan (Melody) Carr, Michael Carr and Hoyt Young; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Travis) Shepherd, Amanda (Eric) Thrasher and Katelyn Young; great-granddaughters, Audrey Shepherd, Emma Perry, Ellie Thrasher, Sayla Carr, Brynna Carr and Lily Shepherd; sister, Cuba J. (Walter) Cain; brothers, Terry J. (Sandy) Foxx and Larry J. (Late Carla) Foxx; sisters-in-law, Bessie Foxx and Jeanie Kirby; plus several nieces, nephews and friends. 

In addition to her parents, Crystal was preceded in death by her brothers, Graydon J. Foxx, Clayton J. (Mary) Foxx, Thomas J. Foxx and Gary J. Foxx; and her sister, Ramona LeFeber. 

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN, 46933. 

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Crystal’s life will begin at 6 pm with Pastor Bruce Koontz officiating.
