Clen Colwell

Clen Colwell, 83, of Peru, passed away at 6:05pm on September 3rd at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru.  Clen was born October 6, 1939 in Thousand Sticks, Kentucky to Enoch and Gertrude Colwell.  At 18 Clen enlisted in the Army Infantry and served four years for his country. 

While deployed overseas in Germany, he became pen pals with his future beautiful bride,  Lillie Turner. They married December 8, 1963 and went on to raise a large loving family. Clen and Lillie were surrounded by four children, George (Julie) Colwell, Theresia Pogue (Rick Hunt), Bill (Jill) Colwell, Cathy (Frank) Jones, eight grandchildren Angel Arnold, Tim Colwell, Michael Camp, Chris Camp, Zakk Colwell, Meghan Jones, Justin Colwell and Logan Colwell and thirteen great grandchildren (Hunter, Waylon and River Colwell, Gabby and Damian Camp, Hayden Ringeisen and Sophia Camp, Sianna and Tyler Arnold, Margot and Lawrence Colwell, Owen Martin, and Cooper Wyant)

Clen instilled hard work in his children and worked as a talented welder for Bryan Steam, retiring in 2002.  In his spare time he loved to fish, mushroom hunt and bowl.

Clen was preceded in death by loving wife, Lillie, his second wife Sue, and grandsons Michael and Chris Camp.

Visitation for Clen will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 11am to 1pm. The funeral service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Internment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana. Military rites will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Miami County Military Rites Team.
