Clarence Raymond “Ray” Norris

Clarence Raymond “Ray” Norris, 77, Marion, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Woodview Health Care in Fort Wayne.  He was born in Marion on October 1, 1940, to the late James E. and Ruth Lucille (Ward) Norris.  In 1973, he married Judith “Judy” O’Banion, and she survives.

Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired Marion Engineering and worked at American Woodmark after retirement.  He enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and doing anything outdoors.  In his earlier years, Ray was a race car driver. Other interests included wood carving, gardening, drinking coffee with his friends at restaurants, and watching John Wayne movies.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Tony (Francis) Hiatt, Huntington, and Robert “Fuj” Norris, Marion; grandchildren, John Michael Hicks, Shelby Hicks, Heather Hicks, and Sarah Anne Norris; special nephew, Chad O’Banion; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Brian Hicks, and son, Raymond Lee Norris.

The family will receive visitors from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Grant Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.  Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
