Cheryl Rae Kitts, age 74 of Van Buren passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.
Cheryl was born on November 9, 1947 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Eugene and Delores (Leffler) Shannon. She was a graduate of Marion High School in 1965, and married Kendall Kitts on August 6, 1966, and he survives.
Cheryl worked for numerous medical practices and for the hospital, and was a member of the Towne and Country Homemakers Club. Cheryl loved spending time with her grandchildren, hosting friends and family at Dewart Lake, vacationing in the Caribbean, playing Euchre, and going on day trips and outings with friends.
She is survived by her husband, Kendall Kitts of Van Buren; three sons, Kenneth (Rebecca) Kitts of Zionsville, Kevin (Nicki) Kitts of Marion and Kreig Kitts of Washington D.C.; brothers, Jeff Shannon of Marion and Jerry (Susan) Hodge of Van Buren; a sister, Judy (George) Juergens of Huntington; and 3 grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Hannah Kitts.
As per Cheryl’s wishes, cremation will take place. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Visitation will also take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, January 7, 2022 prior to funeral services in the funeral home. Funeral Services will begin at Noon with Chaplain Darrell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion (Huntington County), Indiana.
