Charles Werner Schmidtke, 41, of Greencastle, Indiana, died at 8:55 pm, Monday, December 19, 2022, in Columbus, Indiana. He was born on April 2, 1981, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Axel and Kimberly (Flauding) Schmidtke.
Charles received his Associates Degree from Universal Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He was a self employed contractor and entrepreneur. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, gardening, and farming. Charles was an excellent cook and was always interested in new business opportunities.
He is survived by his parents, Axel and Kimberly Schmidtke of Riceville, Tennessee; brother, Juston (Alyssa Kaplan) Schmidtke of Louisville, Kentucky; nephew, Everett Schmidtke of Louisville; grandmother, Erna Schmidtke of Fort Wayne; his aunt and uncle, Tammy (Dave) Baumgartner of Roanoke, Indiana, and their children Dylan and Grant; uncle and aunt, Hans (Diane) Schmidtke of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and their children Beth and Jacob (Niki); aunt, Becky Green of Huntington, Indiana and her children Devin and Jobe; and his ex-wife Rachel Stephens. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Grace Flauding, and Werner Schmidtke, and his aunt, Pamela Flauding.
