Charles F. Shroyer

Charles F. Shroyer, age 72, of Sweetser passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Charles was born February 13, 1947 in Peru, Indiana the son of the late Maurice and Julianna (Farner) Shroyer. 

Charles earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Manchester College.  He then earned his Master’s of Science degree in Education at IU of Kokomo and his Education Specialist degree at Ball State University.  He was a teacher at Lagro, Sharp Creek, and Swayzee Elementary schools, and then Principal at Swayzee and Sweetser Elementary schools.  He retired from Sweetser Elementary in 2004.  He worked in the Transition to Teaching Program at Indiana Wesleyan University for 10 years after his retirement. 

Charles married Velma Pinkerton on November 17, 1972, and she survives.  He enjoyed traveling, especially going to Myrtle Beach with his family and taking small trips with his wife.  He also loved playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren.   He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and Atlanta Braves fan. 

Charles is survived by his wife, Velma Shroyer of Sweetser; two daughters, Rhonda (Doug) Beall of Berne, and Carla (Chad) Sanders of Noblesville; sister-in-law, Lois (Steve) Urnowey of Pensacola, Florida; brother-in-law, George (Marcia) Pinkerton of Fishers; 5 grandchildren, Natalie Beall, Brady Beall, Blake Sanders, Reagan Sanders and Morgan Sanders; and one niece and four nephews.

Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

Friends and family may also call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, 2015 County Road 300 West, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Barton officiating.

Burial will take place in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana immediately following funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.
