Chad Aaron Steven Powell, 44, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Chad was born on February 24, 1974, in Marion, to the late Mark Powell and Linda McNutt, who survives. Chad graduated from Marion High School in 1993. He got his Associates degree from Indiana Tech in Electrical Engineering, then worked for UT Electronic Controls as an electrical engineer for many years. Chad married the love of his life, Kari Anderson, on September 20, 1996. They were able to celebrate their 22 wedding anniversary this year. Chad had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He also loved to make sure that everyone was fed. A master of the barbeque, it was common for him to get up in the early hours of the morning and start a brisket in the smoker. He made sure there was plenty to go around, with everyone being able to enjoy leftovers for a few days. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. Above everything else, Chad will be remembered as a wonderful, loving husband and father. Those he loved knew they were loved.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kari Powell, Marion; three children, Tyler (Anna) Powell, Wabash, Tyler Anderson, Muncie, and Ashley (Daniel Moss) Powell, Marion; two grandchildren, Bella and Emmett Powell; four sisters, Yvonne Trautman, MO, Colleen Dawson, MO, Jamie Coolman, Marion, and Patty Murphy, Marion; two special uncles, Kenny Messer, Marion, and Bill Messer, Kokomo; grandfather, Kenneth Powell, Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews; and his two furbabies, Chloe and Kali.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Powell, and grandparents, Jeraldine and Aaron Messer, Jr., and Sharon Powell.
Arrangements for Chad have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Chad’s life will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Chad’s uncle, Bill Messer, officiating. Cremation will follow.
