Carl Leroy Moon

Carl Moon, 80, of Peru passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12:25 in the afternoon.

He was born on December 14, 1937, in Peru, Indiana, to John and Lois Moon. He married Pearlene Faye Ashlock on December 29, 1956. Together they had three sons, David, Scott, and Jeff.

Carl served in the Indiana National Guard, and was named Indiana Guardsman of the Year. He worked for Hoosier Telecable when cable TV first came to Peru. Carl also owned a radio and television tower business, Moon’s Antenna Service.  Carl was the factory foreman at W.C. Redmon for over four decades. Even in retirement, Carl was very busy. He performed all the maintenance for First Baptist Church. Many widows of the community relied on him to take them to their doctor’s appointments or fix things in their homes, and they enjoyed regular Friday night dinners out. Carl had many hobbies, including flying model airplanes and bribing citizens of Peru with his world-class chocolate peanut clusters. Carl loved being around his family, but is finally home with his beloved wife and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carl is survived by his three loving sons, J. David (Krysten) Moon, Scott (Brenda) Moon, and Jeff (Angela) Moon. He will be greatly missed by his 23 grandchildren, Nick (Krista), Jon, Angel, Debby, Joey, Sam, Andy, Danny, Paul, Kara, Kalan (Molly), Brady, Mallory, Reylee (Terrie), Elijah, Tiffany (Noah), Brandi, Gabby, and Austyn. He will also be missed by his six great-grandchildren, Zayden, Zyler, Taira, Tanya, Izzy, and Jaidyn. Carl was preceded in death by his wife Pearlene and his sister Marilyn.

Friends may call on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 11am until time of service at 2pm at the First Baptist Church (53 East Main Street, Peru, Indiana) with Pastor Robert Adelsperger and Pastor Clifton Ashlock officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana. Military service will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church and/or Peru Rolling Chapel through Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
