Calvin Richard Deck, 69, of Marion, went to be with the Lord at 12:03 pm on Friday, December 25, 2020, at Aperion Care in Marion. He was born in Augusta, Georgia, on May 9, 1951, to Calvin and Helena (Chow) Deck.
Calvin was a 1969 graduate of Marion High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1970-1973. Calvin achieved the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, one Overseas Service Bar, Expert Qualification Badge with Machine Gun Bar, and Sharpshooter Qualification Badge with Grenade and Pistol Bar. Following his military service, Calvin worked as a roofer for Dave Widmeyer Roofing and Construction, as well as an assembler and forklift operator at Hayes Lemmerz in Huntington.
Calvin attended Grace Community Church in Marion. He enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows. Above everything, Calvin always put his family first and loved spending time with them. He was a hard-working family man who will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his sons, Tony Deck of Marion and Calvin M.E. Deck of Marion; daughter, Dilena (Eldon) Stinefield of Marion; granddaughter, Savannah; grandsons, Nathan, Jacob, and Coby; sister, Anna Marie (Leroy) Johns of Marion; and best friend, Lonnie Perkins of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Twinkie.
At Calvin’s wishes, following cremation, the family will have a private graveside service and interment at Marion National Cemetery.
