Bonnie J. Cunningham, 78, Marion, passed away at 11:17 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Saturday, September 15, 1945, to Carlos and Ruth (Tincher) Stephens. She was married to Fred P. Cunningham, who preceded her in death.
Bonnie graduated from Marion High School in 1963 and received her associate degree in nursing from Marion Community School of Nursing. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 28 years with Marion General Hospital, retiring in 2006. Bonnie was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #10.
In her younger years, Bonnie enjoyed going to the Ducktail Car Show. Over the past few years, she played Euchre at the Hostess House. Bonnie loved to read, and she read often. She also loved her dogs, Itsy and Haley.
Survivors include her sisters, Nikki (Dennis) Rinker of Marion and Mary Ann Holloway of Marion; brother, Charles (Bernice) Stephens of Marion; sisters-in-law, JoEllen Stephens of Marion, Becky Schaffer of Marion, and Nancy Jo Jones of Gas City; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, J. Will Holloway; sister, Carolyn (Bill) Holmes; and brother, Dale Stephens.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
On Monday, September 25, 2023, a funeral service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will take place at North Chapel at 11:30 am. Pastor Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
