Betty “Joann” Draper, 90, of Warren, Indiana, died at 11:17 am, Monday, October 9, 2023, at Heritage Pointe in Warren. She was born on November 9, 1932, in Peru, Indiana, to Cecil and Velma (Castle) Bender.
Joann was a 1950 graduate of Linlawn High School. She married Louis “Wayne” Draper in Wabash on February 13, 1951. Joann retired from the Farm Bureau Co-op in Huntington after 12 years, but being a housewife was her passion. She was a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church, and enjoyed cooking, crafts, playing cards, and their retirement years RV camping in Florida. At Heritage Pointe, she enjoyed their musical performances and won at trivia often.
She is survived by three children, Mark (Lori) Draper of Wabash, Cheryl Draper of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Scott Draper of Wabash; five grandchildren, Brian (Alicia) Draper of Wabash, Janelle (Adam) Darnell of Spring Lake, Michigan, Kandis Draper of Wabash, Andrew Draper of Rochester, Indiana, and Sofia Draper of Louisville, Kentucky, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne Draper, and her sister, Frances Mannies.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Brad Wright officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 6-8 pm Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Alzheimer’s Association.
