Betty Hoosier

Betty was born in Marion on August 25, 1932 to the late Fredrick J. and Mildred D. (Isenbarger) Tolle. She passed away in Aperion Health Care, Marion on February 6, 2019.

Betty married James T. Van Hoosier on June 12, 1948. Mr. Van Hoosier preceded her in death on July 23, 2000. Betty was a dedicated homemaker and spoiled all of her family with her love and devotion. All of the neighborhood families and everyone she met were treated like one of her family. Betty was a volunteer crossing guard for Thomas Jefferson School and McCulloch and retired after her last grandchild had gone through school. She was also a committed Salvation Army volunteer and spent countless hours ringing the bell and passing out toys at Christmas time.

Betty is survived by her children, James sE. Van Hoosier, Virginia; John D. Van Hoosier, Linda S. (Leon) Holsinger, Robert E. (Elizabeth)Van Hoosier, Victor P. (Debra) Van Hoosier, Cindy L. (Calvin) Van Hoosier, Brenda L. (Derek) Geiken and Donna K. (Greg) Van Hoosier, all of Marion; sister, Sandra Young, Sweetser; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.

The Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:30am, Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion with Glenn Welch officiating. Visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm, Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in the funeral home.
