Betty Ann Purvis

Betty Ann Purvis, 76, Jonesboro, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in New Albany, Indiana on Monday, April 16, 1945, to Willis and Anna (Stevens) Totten. She was married on December 31, 1962 to Floyd Wilson. She was married to him for 29 years before his passing. She later married Floyd Purvis, on April 8, 2006 and was married for 7 years before he also preceded her.

Betty spent most of her life as a homemaker, providing care for her children. She later worked as an inspector at BRC in Hartford City. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Gas City. She collected cookie jars, birds, tigers, and other knick-knacks. She loved watching westerns and going to the VFW to listen to country music.

Survivors include her sons, Bill (Alice) Wilson of Marion, Floyd Wilson, Jr. of Marion, and David (Deborah) Wilson of Marion; sister, Ruth (Richard) Sawyer of Salem; and grandchildren, Amanda, William, Brittany, Whittany, Tyler, Cameron, Chloe, and Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Anna Totten; husband, Floyd Wilson, Sr. and husband Floyd Purvis; sons, John Wilson and Samuel Wilson; brothers, Ryland (Sandra) Totten and Steven Totten; and sister, Marcella Roberts.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner -Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St. Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Betty’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Peggy Hickman officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
