Barbara L. Miller, 92, of Gas City, passed away at 7:27 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Marion Health. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Monday, January 19, 1931, to Basil and Madge (Lindsay) Smyser.
Barbara graduated from Tipton High School and St. Joseph Nursing School.
Barbara worked as a RN for VA Northern Indiana Health Care System. She liked to paint, draw, and knit. She enjoyed shopping at flea markets. She worked for Tipton Hospital, Kokomo Hospital, many nursing homes in the area and then ended her nursing career as a traveling coordinator. When I falter, give me courage. When I tire, renew my strength. When I weaken because I’m human, Inspire me on to greater length. If doctors and patients become demanding, And days are too short for all my duty, Help me remember I chose to serve, To do so with grace, and spiritual beauty. In humility, Lord, I labour long hours, And though I sometimes may fret; My mission is mercy. Abide with me, that I may never forget.
Barbara is survived by son, Michal D. Miller; daughters, Marcia A. (Robert) Partlow of Kokomo, Cynthia L. Reitenga, Susan E. Miller; grandchildren, Maryann (Joseph ) Walker, Richard Earl (Christine) Partlow, Johnny Miller, Brian Miller; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil M. and Madge L. Smyser, son, Jeffrey W. Miller.
At Barbara’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
