Barbara C. Florek, 90, of LaFontaine, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on February 7, 1933, to Glen T. and Gladys P. (Vanness) Jones in Wabash, Indiana.
Barbara was a 1951 graduate of Banquo High School. She married Rudolph Florek on May 15, 1954. He passed away on March 23, 2018. Barbara enjoyed reading, cooking, playing puzzles and solitaire, but most of all she loved her family.
Barbara is survived by two sons, Max Florek and Dennis Florek (Teresa Bozell), both of LaFontaine, Indiana; two daughters, Theresa (Jerry) LaShure, of LaFontaine, Indiana and Pamela (Mark) Clindaniel, Scottsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Alena Rogers, Brandon LaShure, Andrew Florek, Jocelynn Clindaniel, Marcus Clindaniel, Dylan Florek, Devon Clindaniel; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, James Florek, one brother, Charles “Bud” Jones, and three sisters, Frieda Wages, Juanita Weaver, and Infant sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Wabash, Indiana with Father Jay Horning officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association in care of McDonald Funeral Home.
