Allen L. Porter, 72, Marion, passed away at 2:34 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Marion Health in Marion. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, April 2, 1950, to Chester and Betty (Axton) Porter.
He was a forklift driver at Red Gold and was an avid bicycle rider. He was known as the “cameraman” at the family functions. Allen was a very sentimental guy and very into preserving and keeping record of his family.
Survivors include his granddaughter, Kelsey Jones of Marion; stepson, Jim (Jenny) Bush; stepdaughter, Kim (Roy) Oakes; sisters, Debbie Kennedy, Bernice Atkins; brothers, Dave Porter, Bill Porter, Paul (Laura) Porter; great-granddaughters, Carly and Maci; former wife and friend, Patricia Pickup; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Richard Porter; parents, Chester and Betty Porter; brothers, Bob Porter, Rick Porter; and sister, Clessie Hayes.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Allen’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Koontz officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
