Alexis E. Fessenden, 76, Marion, passed away at 6:20 pm on Monday, February 20, 2023, in her home. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, September 26, 1946, to Alex and Ruth (Davis) Emmons. She married William “Bill” E. Fessenden on August 31, 1974, and he preceded her in death.
Alexis graduated from Marion High School, attended St. Joseph School of X-Ray until 1966, received her B.S. in Elementary Education at Marion College in 1973, and graduated with a Masters of Library Science from Ball State University in 1978.
Alexis worked at Davis Medical Clinic as an X-Ray technician and receptionist. She worked as a librarian at R.J. Baskett for Mississinewa Community Schools for 34 years, retiring in 2011. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian, past deacon, served on other committees at church, and volunteered at the Westminster Preschool Library. She enjoyed reading. She especially enjoyed her time spent with Chynna, Ted, and Eliza Fry.
Survivors include her daughter, Alison (Joshua Carnes) Fessenden of Marion, sisters-in-law, Mickie Ellison, Carolyn Szabados, and Virginia “Ginny” Spearman; close friends, Susan Kriegbaum, AJ and Karen Fry, Chynna (Andrew) Martin, Greta Martin, Ted (Fiancée Alaina Orchard) Fry, and Eliza Fry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Judy Emmons; brother, Alex “Buster” Emmons; father-in-law, William P. Fessenden; mother-in-law, Margie A. Fessenden; sister-in-law, Cheryl St. Clair; and friend, David Kriegbaum.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday March 4, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Services, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Alexis’s life will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Jahn officiating. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity.
