Maxine was born in Marion on August 7, 1928 to the late Harry A. and Soprona (Watson) Worthand she resided in Gas City for most of her life. She passed away on July 9, 2018 in Owen Valley Health Campus, Spencer, Indiana.
Maxine graduated from Marion High School. On June 14, 1946 she married Ralph Eugene Pierce. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1998. Maxine was a homemaker and an excellent caregiver for her ailing family members. Her family and grandchildren were important to her. She loved big band music and the Young and the Restless soap opera.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Michelle (Bryan) Roe, Spencer;
Diane (Mark) Newnum, Rockville; brother, Charles Mathias, Chesterfield;
sister, Beverly Sanders, Marion; nephew, Stan Jones, Tipton; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Maxine is also preceded in death by her sons, Robert E. Pierce and David Pierce; brothers, John Mathias and Gene Mathias; grandson, Travis Pierce.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10am in Marion National Cemetery, Marion with Chaplain Ron Forsythe officiating.Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements.
