William R. Payne, 82, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at his Fairmount, Indiana residence.
Bill was born May 23, 1935 in Gaston, Indiana, son of Ralph Payne and Martha Trout. Bill graduated from Fairmount High School in 1953.
He served in the Air Force and while stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska, Bill met and married his wife Janice Klum on October 25, 1958. He worked at Delco-Remy in Anderson as an electronics technician for 26 years before retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed playing pool, riding his motorcycle, and researching family history. He also belonged to several Euchre clubs with Janice and was a volunteer at the Fairmount Historical Society
Western movies and golf were also interests for Bill; but not as much as the Chicago Bears and Purdue Basketball.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janice of Fairmount; Son, Ron, Terre Haute, IN; Daughter Tracy (Butch) Yeater, Gas City, IN; Grandsons Morgan and Evan Yeater, Indianapolis, IN; Sisters Janiece Duling, Fairmount, IN, Marjean Jones, Marion, IN, Jane Ann Payne, of Los Angeles, CA; and brother-in-law Gene (Karen) Klum, Lincoln, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, August 28, 2017. Graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana.
