Trula Darlene Hays, 83, passed away on June 16, 2017 in Sun City West, Arizona. She was born in Marion, Indiana.

Darlene graduated from Marion High School in 1952. On December 20, 1953 she married James “Jim” Hays. She worked for Foster Forbes where she met Mr. Hays. After that she devoted her time to being a housewife and great mother to her children. Darlene was an avid bridge player.

Darlene is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Mr. Ed) Bates, Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Patty Haisley, Gas City, Indiana; grandchildren, James E. Bates, Missoula, Montana, Katherine Leigh Bates, Louisville, Kentucky; half-brother, Jim Nieman, Findlay, Ohio; nephews; Tom (Janet) Haisley, Marion Indiana, Brett Haisley, Indianapolis, Indiana, John (Elaine) Teeters, Stamford, Connecticut; niece, Ann (Marv) Teeters-Johnson, Duluth, Minnesota.

She is also preceded in death by her mother, Alice (Compton) Belville; step-father, Gib Belville; daughter, Linda Kay Hays

Visitation will be held from 1-2pm, at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North Seventh Street, Gas City, Indiana.

Funeral services will begin at 2pm, Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the funeral home with Rev. Ron Forsythe officiating.

Burial will immediately follow at Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral home was entrusted with making these arrangements.
