Sharon Rae Jones Shumaker, 65 of Markle, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend was called home to be with her lord and savior on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at her residence. After a short but courageous battle, her soul is at rest. Sharon was a 1970 graduate of Huntington North High School and attended classes at Great Lakes Bible College and Michigan State University where she was active at the MSU Christian Student Center and performed in the national touring chamber choir. After working several years at Wayne Metal Products in Markle, she moved on to materials management at Nelson Machining and Fabricating in 1990. In 2013 the company was purchased by Auto Truck Group and she remained in their employ. She took great pride in her work and was very grateful for the friendship and comradery of those she worked with.

Sharon lived in Lansing, Michigan, Washington DC, and Dayton, Ohio before her return to Markle in 1980 where she happily raised her family and tended her beautiful garden. Additional hobbies included travelling the world, spending time with her family at the beach, genealogy, and walking her adored and spoiled dog, Sammie and grand-dog, Hoosier. She was a proud member of the Samuel Huntington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Markle United Methodist Church.

Sharon was born on February 16, 1952 in Bluffton, the daughter of Charley and Olive (Wilburn) Jones.

She was united in marriage to Robert W. Shumaker on August 17, 2000 in Huntington. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her mother: Olive Jones; a sister: Joy Gilbert; three daughters: Jennifer (Danny) Bragg of Winder, GA; Kimberly Spahr of Fort Wayne; Amanda Zane of Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Charlie Kitchens, Peyton Bragg, Corbyn Gray, Olivia Zane, and Elijah Zane; a great granddaughter: Lillian Kitchens and her step children: Randy Shumaker of Tollhouse, CA; Laura (Darrin) Werling of Ossian; Amanda (Andy) Jones of Leo-Cedarville, IN and her sponsor-child through Compassion International, Joel.

She was preceded in death by her father: Charley Jones, and a sister: Kathy (Jones) Kinsey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Markle United Methodist Church, 145 W. Morse Street, Markle, Indiana with Pastor Dillon Kinsey officiating.

Interment will be at the Spider Hill Cemetery in Wells County.
